There are a lot of model train enthusiasts who posess an older version of the Märklin model of the SBB / NS TEE trainset Ram TEE I - #3070 and #3071, toghther with the additional cars #4070 and #4071.

Compared to newer versions of this train, the old models look simple, if they are standing on a track near passenger cars with interior furnishings - because they don't have any! However, this does not mean one has to replace the old model - the problem can be solved quite easily and much cheaper!

For this, one has to order the interior furnishings of the new model as spare parts:

- 497010 for the compartment car
- 497000 for the control car
- 497020 for the dining car

 

A look beyond one of the cars. Th demount the shell, the two clips - in the red circles - have to be pressed a little bit backwards, until they release. Then, the shell can be taken of without any problem.

Now, many will think: let's set in the interior furnishings and set on the shell again. Unluckily, that's not so easy. When they revised the construction of the model, they changed the form of the shell as well. There are several struttings on the inner side of the shell which are suposed to stabilize the shell. Now their are two ways: to rework the interior furnishings or the shells themselves. I have decided to rework the interior furnishings - if something goes wrong, the it's not such a financial loss like a damged shell.

The works are similar for all cars. Where there are seats on both sides of the car, the incisions has to be filed as well on both sides! !
