The Assembly Of An Old Faller Cardboard Kit B-254 |
|
| Collectors won't understand
what I have done here. A collector, nourishing and cherishing his
collection of unassembled old kits, should leave this site es quickly
as possibly, as it describes how an old Faller cardboard kit, mint
and boxed, has been assembled. But what should I do? I wanted to have this duplex, so I acquired this kit as I discovered it on Ebay. The assembly is a little bit more extensive as that of a plastic kit. First of all, I assembled the wall parts, which can be done with all-purpose glue or PVA glue. Next step was the application of semolina on the shell of building, to get a plaster structure. Plastic parts like the windows or the roof could be stuck with normal plastic glue. The shutters, however, which form one injection-moulded part with the window frames, had to be painted before. As the kit contained no gutters, I used those from an Auhagen set. Principally, this was no scratchbuilding. However, descriptions of the assembly of kits like that can be found very rarely, so I decided to publish it anyway. Moreover, compared to today's plastic kits, more work is required, more has to be done by oneself, assembling such an old cardboard kit. |
