2. A Modern Town House

The house on the club's layout (the white building in the middle of the picture)This model represents a modern town house with a roof terrace, which could have been built during the 1980ies or 1990ies. The model was suposed to be used on the layout of our model railway club (MEC Nürnberg), where I am a member.

I had made not the best experiences when using cardboard for the large residential block, so I decided to use plastic for this house from the beginning. But because of the large seize of this house I decided to reinforce the polysterol plates from inside. The plaster on the roof was made of grey paper, the joints were carved into the material with a cutter. I think this is a good and low-cost solution for this purpose. The windows and doors were made after same procedure described one site before.  The railings of the rood terrace originally were garden fences; after the feencing posts had been removed, the single parts were put together to a railing.

The special ground plan is another very interesting detail of this house. Many houses on the club's layout only consist of the street facade and parts of the roof, that means they are only 1,5 cm wide.

This house presents the connection between these "facade houses" and the "complete houses". It consists of two parts - the mein tract is reproduced completely, while the side wing is only as a "facade wing".
