4. Two One-Family-Houses

The front side with the entrance door Several years ago, several old houses from an dismantled former layout were sorted out, as there wasn't no use for them on the current club layout eny longer. For a small contribution to the club, members could take these models. So I took the chance to aquire some of them; originally I planned to use these houses on my old NOCH layout which I was just remodeling at that time. Unluckily, there was no place found for this house on this layout, and some urgent repairs had to be done on it otherwise. So some time it was just standing around on the shelf and watiing for better days to come, until I finally started with its renovation.

The house recieved a new paint with Plaka Coulors. A number of details were added on the roof - skylights, for example. A new entrance door has been installed as well. After all I some grass was applied around the house on the base plate. Other interesting new details include a dustbin or the bike leaning against the wall, but also the lamp.

I went on with this house in a quite similar way, which, however, came from my own collection. This is a Faller model, but one of the newer series. However, as a remainder from my early model-making the days, the kit hadn't been assembled very carefully. As one of the first steps, it got new paint. Various parts were replaced, or added, like a new entrance door for example. Morever, the house was extended with a garage. The edge of the garage roof got the imitiation of a metal covering - I used aluminum foil! Front side with the new garage

But there are more interesting details, so for example the large terrace and the roof terrace. There was a special timberwork on the roof terrace, but however, most of its crossbars were allready missing. Fortunetaly I found the imitation a of wavelike-structure plexiglass, which I stuck on the timberwork. Note that also the windows were changed - they got new bars,a fter most of the old bars had been removed. The new bars were made of 1 mm polysterol sheets.

At all, no real substantial changes were done, only various small changes like the addition of new details or the replamecement of special parts, and a new paint of course....but nonetheless, also these two houses now have become intersting unique pieces.
