Anybody who didn't find curious enough what he has seen until now? Alpha were a toy trains for children produced by Märklin from 1988 on. The models were just phantasy products with a quit futuristic looking design - they were available in black and anthracite. The cars could be dismantled an put together in another way. The boxes could be used as buildings, tunnel or background scenery. However the Alpha trains vanhished from the catalogues again, they simply didn't sell as well as hoped for. There might be several ressons for that, especially the missing marketing adressing children and too high prices. Together with the Alpha trains a new track system was presented call "Gleis 2000", on which the C-track was based later on. An accumulator powered driving unit was developed for that toy train system but didn't proove well. |

| This "adventure wagon" was offered during a painting competition. The "building set" concept of the Alpha cars can be seen quite good. | |
