Licher Models

This site deals with a very specific topic: model trains as an advertising medium. At least most of the large manufacterers have special offers where a certain variety of models (most often cars) can be be printed with all kinds of advertisment or firm emblems. Most of these model versions are just phantasy models without any prototype.

The most common model is certainly the Märklin refrigerator car 4415; a cheap and much too short car, for which the scaly model 4620 was taken out of programe. Uncountable versions of this car have been leaving the factory halls since then.

But it's not only that car which is used as an advertising medium. Also professional models, and even locomotives, are often used for that purpose.

This site presents the models produced for the Licher brewery from Lich, Hessen (Germany). What is most interesting about Licher: they didn't present only one model, like other firms. No, they presented a complete series of different cars, and, finally, a fitting locomotive.

So collectors could purchase a complete train over the years! The models were produced between 1990 and 2005.

Quite different cars were offered by Licher over the years. They are all based on Märklin and Roco models. The most "curious" model, beside the refrigerator car based on the 4415-model, is certainly the glas tank car. Of couse, this car type hasn't any prototype. It was an idea of Märklin.

Moreover Licher also offered a passenger car, based on a DB "Silberling". Also this car is a Märklin product.

Finally, Licher presnted the fitting locomotive. It was a Roco product, based on the model of the DB BR 215. It was offered as an DC and an AC version.
