| A Piko circus train. Sets like this are still today offered by Piko and are especially adress playing children. And little children like everything whicht is gaudy, especially if it has to do with circus. Experts will identify the loco as a BR 55, however with some very particular addition, especially regard the smokestack! The cars of this set are normal serial models, however painted in a new design for their use as starter set models. |

| Here we set a set containing a train which is consisting of a DR diesel loco, BR 130/132 and five "Modernisierungswagen". Obsucre looking is especially the design of the models, which is taken from western German DB-trains. The blue-beige painting of the engine and the baggage coach (lettered as a post coach!) was used by the DB from the mid-1970ies until the late 1980ies. The other cars show the "pop design" used by the DB for express train coaches in the early 1970ies - a design however which had been abandoned again very soon. Probably, Piko had an eye on the Western German market with this set, for which the models were painted in a DB design. Two cars are even lettered as TEE-cars - which is completely wrong because the DB "Pop cars" were not used for TEE service. |
|
| Even the DR VT 137 was offered as a TEE in "Pop Design". | ![]() |
| A NS Express Train | |

| Now let's have a look on this express train of the Dutch Railways NS. Of course this isn't any real Dutch rolling stock, it's DR stuff in NS colours. A class 130 diesel and three "Modernisierungswagen". The NS logo is printed in the correct form, but his can't belie real experts about the prototypes' origin.. | |

| NS Double Deck Car | |
| But Piko continued their Dutch asortment. This DR double deck car has as well been "Decorated" as an NS car. Originally, this was a Prefo model, however, the Prefo products were dispelled by Piko. |

| SBB Type Y | |
|
|
Even if the well-known Type B express train coaches were delivered to Eastern European railways, this didn't prevent Piko/Prefo from producing also "Western" versions of these cars. This one is a car in SBB livry. |
