The 50th anniversary of the DB steam loco BR 23 as well as the necessity of offering a Primex model in order to preserve the names on this brand name lead Märklin to present a new edition of their old model of the BR 23.

This new edition got the EDV number "023" and the running number 023 033-4. The loco is equiped with a delta decoder for operation on analog, digital and Delta layouts.
