What's the use of all this?

Primex doesn't exist any longer. Is that really such a big problem?

When Primex was discontinued, a low-cost model train programe vanished from the shops. This programe offered not sowell-heeled beginners an uncomplicated start into a fascinating hobby. Ulutating does not bring back that the Primex programe. These sites' aim is certainly not to mourn for the "old times" - ist more concerning about junior model railroaders who simply can't afford any of these expensive "Limited Editions".

What model railroaders can do is supporting those firms efforts who are really active in recruiting young generations for the model train hobby - by buying specifically from these firms. That also means however, having a look to other manufacturers than the one favourite one and not buying a model you want (as much you would desire it!) when it is overpriced.

The author of this site is not - and has never been - one of those fanatic "Märklin fans", or even a special "fan" of any other manufacturer - he's interested in all manufacturers in the same way. Not like these guys who claim Märklin to be their "favourite manufacturer", and who don't leave out any chance to praise this firm. But if you are Märklin fan or not - this firm is the market leader in the model train sector, and so also plays some kind of "model role" for other model trains firms. And no one can deny the fact, that these firms - at least have - copied Märklin's business policiy, i.e. presenting especially items for more ambitios model train enthusiasts or collectors. Especially becase of this reaseon, it is important for Märklin to continue the way they started with their new "Hobby" line trains.

The most important thing of all this are trains for a fair price, which also newcomers (mostly teenagers with not so much money) can afford! If their stands Märklin, Primex, or some other brand name on the box, is a fact that plays only a minor role.
